MAKE IT: BREAKFAST TOWER

The other day, I decided to make a special breakfast for a semi-special
occasion. Well, at least special for us :) A whole new season of one of
our favorite shows, Arrested Development, was released on Netflix.
My husband and I
sat down in the early morning, with our favorite
show, our delicious breakfast, and enjoyed our kind of made up occasion.

We made a hash brown, poached egg, grilled tomato, arugula, and spinach
breakfast 'tower'. I was inspired by this recipe but used hash browns
instead
of grilled sweet potatoes. It was pretty simple & SO good!

I made the hash browns into rounds & stacked a few of them. Here are a couple
good recipes
for crispy hash browns and the perfect poached egg!
That egg recipe is THE BEST one
I've used. It works every time ;)

It's A Long Road To Wisdom

Excuse my wrinkled shirt and
wild, summer hair. I had a
quick shower & headed out the
door to a hot, humid day.
This is my totally natural hair.
It's always been a bit crazy,
but I don't mind it that way :)

My Mother-In-Law gave me this necklace,
and it's one of my favorites.
It's by Cat Hammill & has a really sweet
message written on it about good things.
It's a nice little positive reminder
throughout the day.

"imagination. success. seize it. journey. dream.
strength. discover. seek wisdom. love."

I'm so excited to be part of 'Hello Stranger'
over at Blackbird Blog. Check it out!

ICON: JEAN SEBERG

Jean Seberg has me wanting to chop off
all my hair & buy more striped
tops and dresses.

Her story is quite tragic.
I'm surprised there isn't a movie about her,
or maybe I just haven't seen it.
Either way, she is such an effortless beauty.

Make: Chicken & Kale Skillet Bake

This is one of my fast-easy-one-dish meals
that I tend to make on nights where I'm
otherwise uninspired to try a fancy recipe.

The detailed recipe can be found here.
I had to make this meal feed six people,
so I served it over spaghetti.

I'm always looking for new ones :)

SNAPSHOTS

Life lately has been pretty slow-moving.
I can't complain. I get to stay home
with Seth while my husband works from home.
He's usually done by 11am, which leaves the
whole day for us to hang out as a family.

It's pretty special getting to have so
much quality time, and we definitely
don't take it for granted.
We went to the park this afternoon
and enjoyed nice cheese on a fresh baguette.
We stopped by our favorite market
and headed to the park.
It's my favorite way to spend
the day :)

I could do this every day!

We Had Carelessness On Our Side

Outfit posts are funny to me because, lately,
I've been wearing a variation of the same thing
almost every day-
rolled up jeans, some sort of tee/button up shirt,
my brown oxfords, and leather bag.
It's always a solid choice.

Summer is almost here, so I'm sure there will be
a couple dresses and skirts thrown in there at some point.

I've been enjoying my pink hair for now.
It's always fun to hear a little girl gushing
over it or to have a random person say they love it.
I'm totally into funny encounters like that.
The other day, an old man named Bill helped
me pick out a dress at the thrift store that
went with my hair. He told me about life in the 50s
while we shopped. I think I'll keep it for awhile
and see what other odd things happen :)

I'm also in love with this new Rilo Kiley song.
They are one of my all-time favorites.
Have a listen!

Make: Lemon & Poppyseed Pancakes

I've been inspired by Gem over at Blackbird
to start sharing some of my favorite recipes!
Her blog is a daily read of mine.
Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Now, I can't actually take credit for making these.
I requested them as a Mother's Day breakfast,
and my husband made them from scratch.
I CAN say they were completely delicious,
and I'll definitely be making them soon!

Here is the recipe if you want to give them a try.
I think the best topping for these
is strawberries & wildflower honey.
Enjoy!

Be Inspired: Mother's Day

If you're still trying to think of something
to make for your dear Mother, check out this
paper flower tutorial Christen and I put together!

We used instructions from Design Sponge and
tweaked the stems a bit to make it more vase friendly.
Christen added twigs & lavender to the bouquet.
It was a really simple project,
and we love the way it turned out!
If you need more detailed steps, watch the short video we made.

(we only used glue & a paintbrush because the nozzle on our bottle was broken :)

Be inspired to give something handmade.
Our Mom cherishes these gifts the most.

Christen and I got together for a little
project the other day. It was the perfect
afternoon. We made a pretty Mother's Day
gift and drank our favorite iced coffee.
I'll be posting a DIY of the project
and a recipe for the iced coffee!

We took some photos on her back porch.
It's a nice spot to relax, with a rocking
chair and pretty lights around it.
There is a little sneak peek of the
paper flower project we did :D

These shoes are quickly becoming my go-to's.
They're getting scuffed, but I kind of like
the bit of character it adds.

Is anyone else stoked for Mother's Day?
This is my second one, and I couldn't be more excited!
It's fun getting to share holidays with family.
I share my birthday with my twin and now
Mother's Day with my Mom :)
Food is another favorite part of holidays,
so I'm already planning my day of meals! haha

Springtime

Springtime weather is finally here in Indiana!
To celebrate, I made some baby safe paint for Seth.
I bought a white sheet, pinned it down, and let him
go for it with a few paintbrushes.

His Auntie Christen and Uncle Tim got to enjoy
the mess while my husband and I were out searching
for a new car that evening. I'm thankful for family
who doesn't mind getting dirty during playtime :)

Materials/Ingredients:
Flour
Water
Food Coloring
Sheet
Paintbrushes
-mix flour & water until desired consistency.
-add food coloring (I had a lot of fun coming up with
all the variations of colors using just yellow, blue, red, & green)

This was such an easy activity, and he absolutely
loved it!

Christen and I did a fun DIY herb garden over at AmberZonbie
Her blog is amazing, so go make it a daily read!
